Commodore Message
FROM THE HELM
Welcome Aboard our 61st Season!
Fellow members, It's an honor to step into the role of Commodore for the 2026-2027 season, and I'm looking forward to another great year on the water together at Down East Yacht Club.
Our club runs on the energy and generosity of our members. Whether it's lending a hand on race day, helping out at the docks, or joining a committee, volunteering is what keeps DEYC strong and welcoming for everyone. I'd encourage each of you to find a way to get involved this year, even in a small way — it adds up.
We're also excited to welcome new members into the fold. Mark your calendar (or subscribe to the DEYC Calendar) for our 2026-2027 events, Each is a great chance to meet fellow boaters, put names to faces, and start feeling at home in the club. Bring a friend who's been curious about joining — we'd love to meet them too.
One of the best parts of this club is the depth of boating knowledge among our membership. From seasoned sailors to weekend cruisers, there's always someone willing to share what they know.
I'd love to see more of that knowledge-sharing happen this year, whether informally at the club or through organized seminars and on-the-water mentoring.
And a reminder: my door is always open — no need to wait for fair winds to stop by. If you've got feedback, want advice, or just aren't sure where to start, come find me. That's what I'm here for.
With the support of the Bridge, I know we have another fun, busy year ahead. Thank you for the trust you've placed in me, and I can't wait to see you all on the water.
Respectfully,
Steve Marin
